Practicing for the whole person
I believe that medicine has a heart, mind, and soul. Unfortunately In the modern era of medicine, due to insurance constraints and demands, these three entities have been ripped apart at the cost of patient-doctor relationship. The practice of medicine has been boiled down to singular patient doctor encounters while in reality, good medicine cannot be practiced like that. Humans are complex creatures: we are physical, social, psychological, and spiritual beings. This complexity demands medical care that encompanses these aspects of a person.
My goal as a physician is to serve my patients fully and to the best of my ability under the umbrella of direct primary care. As we free ourselves from the constraints of insurance, we see that practicing medicine as we envisioned it should be practiced, with patients at the CENTER of medical care (instead of PROFITS), is a true possibility and is liberating. I am an old school doctor bringing old school care to my patients where I strive to serve my patients in times of health and in illness.
I have extensive experience in serving my patients in the acute and chronic care settings. I practiced medicine in different socioeconomic settings in Iowa, Connecticut, California, and New Jersey. I am actively involved in patient and student education through various forums and maintain my Board licenses and memberships. I also continue to grow through various ongoing medical education activities such as Womens’ Health, Hospital Medicine, and Chronic care management.
